Home water filters are not exactly a simple and easy purchase nowadays. In fact, it can be downright hard, with all of the different styles and types available to you. Choosing home water filters can be extremely confusing, difficult, and stressful if you do not know what you need. Walking through the store looking at the various different types of water filters for the home can be enough to make anyone pull their hair out. Which do you need? Well, it depends on how you intend to use it and for how much water.

Pitcher – These types of home water filters are for those who need to filter their water on an occasional basis. For example, if you want to serve water at a meal, or have a special use for filtered water, these are particularly perfect for those who do not drink water on a regular basis. With pitcher filters, the filter is located at the top of the pitcher. The water is poured into the pitcher as normal and the filter within the top will then create filtered water. However, this is not always a fast process. In fact, it may take quite a few minutes in order for all the water to be filtered into the pitcher.

Tap – These types of home water filters are for those who only need a filter in a specific place. For example, within the kitchen sink. These filters fit directly on the tap and can offer you several choices. One choice is the model that constantly produces filtered water, rather for drinking, doing dishes, or cooking. Another choice is a model that will allow you to choose how you want your water. For example, if you want drinking water, you can opt for filtered water. However, if you simply want to do the dishes or fill a pan for water, you can opt for unfiltered water.

Under Sink – This type of home water filters work in much of the same way as the tap filters. However, there are a few key differences. First, under the sink filters are installed under your sink, instead of on the tap, which can prove to be unsightly and bulky to many people. Second, you generally do not have the choice of diversion if you want filter or unfiltered water, because these types of filters have their own tap dedicated to the system. Lastly, under sink filters will typically last a lot longer and are much larger than the tap or pitcher filter.

The above are the many choices you have when it comes to home water filters. You do have one other choice, which is a full house water system. These filters are for those who want to make sure that every water source in their house is clean and healthy for their family. One great thing about a full house water system is that they last for a fairly long time and eliminate the costs of several different filters and changes at once.
